This is what drives me!

This inspiring gem of wisdom is something I strive to include into everything I do here at The Trauma Therapist Project.

It’s what drives me in my interviews on the podcast.

And it’s that element I insert into each of the courses within this membership.

Information and knowledge is crucial within the specialization of trauma. We all know that.

But it’s the ability for the therapist to do the inner-work, to have explored their limits and biases and fears and their own traumas, which not only allows that therapist to maintain their presence during their work…

It’s also the self-awareness that arises from that inner-work that lays the foundation for an incredible therapeutic relationship.

What is The Trauma 5?

The essence of working with another person is to be present as a living being. And that is lucky, because if we had to be smart, or good, or mature, or wise, then we would probably be in trouble. But, what matters is not that. What matters is to be a human being with another human being, to recognize the other person as another being in there." —Gene Gendlin

About Guy

Guy Macpherson received his PhD in clinical psychology with a special emphasis on trauma. After graduation Guy worked in a clinic in California which focused on assessing and treating young kids who were showing early signs of psychosis.

While he was working there, Guy founded The Trauma Therapist Project with the goal of raising the awareness of trauma and soon started The Trauma Therapist Podcast to interview incredible people who’ve dedicated their lives to helping those who’ve been impacted by trauma with the hopes of inspiring therapists who wanted to learn about trauma.

Over these past few years Guy’s been able to grow The Trauma Therapist Podcast to one that receives over 200K downloads per month which puts the podcast in the top 0.5% of all podcasts.

The experience of doing the podcast has inspired Guy to place his focus now on the challenging and empowering topic of cultivating authenticity both in the professional and the personal arena.

Guy created The Trauma Membership to allow anyone, whether a student or professional, to access the several courses he’s created and the information he provides on a weekly and monthly basis.

Guy is the father to two young kiddos with whom he lives in Bend, Oregon.

Guy is no longer practicing therapy and he is not a therapist.
